I have accounts with HSBC, First DIrect and RBS for various reasons.

HSBC have always been very helpful in person and over the phone and I find
their online banking quite useable.
First Direct (part of HSBC group) I only have a savings account with but I
also find their online banking straightforward. They are also very helpful
over the phone.
RBS do have an excellent online banking site which is easy to use, over the
phone they are OK but I have found branch staff (Whiteladies Road) can be
rather incompetent.
