Quite. There seems to be an unchallenged assumption within the developer community that developers themselves are somehow removed from the sickly, festering, encrusted teat of marketing and that there is a form of purity to what they do because it's code. If one use one's skills in any way to enhance the unit-shifter pipeline, you are just a different-shaped tool in the toolkit. T-shirts just happen to be more visible than a well-written piece of C++.
