I read somewhere a while ago that OpenDNS makes somewhere in the region of $20k a day in advertising from people typing in the wrong URL and them serving search results. DNS is a fair enough service to offer up for free as there's definitely demand. It will just increase their revenue and push their search engine market share even further. Quite why they haven't done this sooner I don't know!
