HI Joel :) I have seen it yes and whilst its clever, I don't think it may need to work the same as the DOB field we were originally talking about. The problem I personally have with the field at Google you refer to is that I feel it's a bit like someone who is not really listening to something, talks over the top of you, finishes your sentences for you and then repeats back what they think you said. When and if they get it wrong, they then ask you to repeat yourself again and again until they understand what you meant. That would be one rude person in real life - and I would not likely spend a lot of time in such a person's company! Relating that back to the Google field, for all the cleverness it has, it's also *really* annoying if it makes me carry out the task again and again until it understands me. I prefer completing a simple task once - not several times just so an app can show off how it believes it understands me - especially if it doesn't! I am sure in an ideal world, I would have loads of time to teach Google to understand me and / or humans in general through such systems (does the Google calendar even learn - or do you have to keep repeating yourself each time you don't input your dates in a way Google understands? I have to say I didn't use it for any length of time to find this out.) I just think that many people who run a calendar are busy - hence why they need one. If busy, they may have less/no time for playing with features that cause them to spend longer than they would have normally to enter a date. Personal preference I guess - some people love it - some hate it. Bit like marmite :) I don't think the two fields (or groups of fields) can be compared though - as they are for different purposes. Most people are used to date of birth fields being clearly marked to identify what is needed in what order. OK Sam! Calm down! ;-) Have you seen the text field I am talking about on Google Calendar? What are your thoughts on this? Are you saying that that field is bad as you can put AOS (any-old-sh!t) in it and would prefer to see the more advanced fields by default?
