Thanks for the link Steve,

Have now updated to Windows Mobile 6.1 and its working well, running
faster plus a load of new features.

What i did (consuming several hours of my afternoon!):

1. Unlocked the sim (popped into nearby shop but you can do this
yourself)
2. Got a rom from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374382
3. Updated phone with Orange settings from a .cab file here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300955

Hopefully, this may be of use to anyone else

Jon

Hi Jonathon,

The Modaco forum wlll probably have some info on this. They're top notch
for
Windows Mobile queries, particularly getting rid of the Orange butchered
version of the O/S...

http://www.modaco.com/

Other thing to check - often Orange outside the UK release the updates,
try
some of the other Orange country websites (but again someone on the
Modaco
site will point you the right way).

The lack of upgrades and support and critical faults with my SPV E650
was
part of my reasoning (self justification) for swapping to an iPhone....

Cheers,
Steve
