There's a thing in this months PCPlus about hacking two laser pointers to
set up a digital link between two machines... over kill certainly but we'd
extend your geek licence by a couple of points if you pulled it off ;-)

But seriously  - I have the same problem - my office is at the end of the
garden, the router is on a shelf the lounge but doesn't quite reach, so I
put some tin foil in the corner of the shelf / wall opposite to the office
(if that makes sense) - I get just enough benefit to make the connection.
