Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help save what little is left of my sanity.
I have an MFP (multi function printer) problem where the scanner doesn't
work - printer is new, and appears to be installed correctly as it is
showing up in the right places etc. If I try scanning either using the
software provided or through photoshop it says cannot communicate with
scanner - check if it is on etc etc. I know it is on and working, and
installed correctly as the printer functions work fine and the scanner is
showing up as installed.

Initially I had a different printer - a canon MFP, which had exactly the
same problem. One day it just stopped working so I tried reinstalling
drivers, updated drivers etc - printer and fax worked fine but scanner
wouldn't work.
Not missing the opportunity to upgrade hardware, I gave up on the canon, and
went and bought this nice shiny black Samsung.
Am a bit gutted to find that it was not the canon that had a fault, and in
fact it is some setting on my machine it would appear, that is causing the
scanner not to work on either printer.
I have tried adding the scanning programs to the firewall permissions, even
disabled the firewall all together. Alas still no working scanner.
I tried googling, and found someone with the same problem, but I have tried
all the recommendations I could find already - like updated drivers,
reinstall etc.
I think given it's the same error on two different printers, it must be a
setting I have inadvertently switched on somehow (or off) on my PC.
Has anyone had this prob before, or know how to fix it please? (no mac jokes
please) :)
