i agree.

if we transposed this into 'three people hurt over the weekend in  
football related clashes in bristol' we wouldn't consider banning the  
sport? (although not having city would be a plus sometimes (esp when  
trying to park in ashton on a saturday)).

youth gangs are worth avoiding but with an increased police presence  
added to deter the gangs from 'winning' then the cycle path will be  
back safe soon.
