Morning.

I'm on a XP desktop - which is fine as I have been writing specs with
Word that has changed a little since Word 2.

But soon I expect I'll have to do some development.  What can I do to
my weenie windows box to make it dev friendly (for Linux servers)?

I've got cygwin so I can happily grep away, a power tool to preview
the window when alt-tab'ing. I'm downloading and have promised myself
to give Eclipse/PDT a 'fair chance'.

What is flavour of the month for text editing?  What else can I do to
make this desktop less painfull?
