Lovely effect what really steps it forward is the artistic development of
the concept using the dispersing effect on the data, very smooth.

Nothing new in the technology though which is a shame, just unclean data
from 3d scanners. Photo-geometrics is a nice tool to access.

Shame they couldn't have developed a scanner that encircled the subject for
the head shots, would have really got into those little creases behind the
nostrils, as it stands the data for the head presents a limited z depth of
detail, but maybe that was the style they were looking for, dirty.

Wonder how much the system to capture the data set them back.

Nice flash presentation of the data although it's a hefty wait for the
animated sequences.

Could have done with one of those retention calls myself.

In an effort to break out from the pointless and wasteful upgrade
cycle in order to gain features I don't need or want, I recently
signed up for a further 18 months @ ?15pm which will immediately save
me ?540 over this contract period when compared to the original deal I
had with them.

Big steaming 4rse burgers that I can't use the SIM with my 6310i
though, I should have checked first.

I'm sure I've put 3 sims in other unlocked phones with no bother. And on
other mob offers news, 3 rang up and offered me a free USB dongle with 5GB
of data transfer for ?7.50/mth, which is pretty reasonable.

Ahh, so after I've had the thing nearly five years it's now nearly
usable! bargain ;-)

I agree, but I am always interested in seeing what other people thing about
this :o)

I found have myself opening a book and thinking 'search' before having to
resort to the archaic 'index'.... I think I might spend to much time on a
computer...

This IS interesting, care to elaborate further? At the moment, as far as I
can see, SEO can be summarised as 'build it properly, write it properly,
don't do anything naughty', but I'm sure there's more detail somewhere :o)

thanks for your reply.

I think that's a good starting point but "write it properly" needs to
obviously encompass keyword research etc to make sure you add the right
ingredients into the copy in the first place (i'd also say write it
properly in light of how people read online as well but this is less of
a direct SEO issue but, then again, perhaps it is not as if it is
written engagingly it will have a greater propensity to be attractive to
back links).

IMHO SEO (and, ok the line blurs between it an SEM) can also encompass
building/attracting good back links to the your content (as, obviously,
with SEO a big (the biggest?) factor tends to be off page factors).

I think a good copywriter is great to have - gives a site an excellent
voice - howeve copy does need to be written in light of SEO, in light of
the audience and in light of marketing call-to-actions, offers etc etc.

Hi all,
Adobe has just released the first public builds of Flex 4. They've
also got some docs and videos showing some of the new features. I
recommend Ely Greenfield's demo on Adobe TV, which shows how some of
the really cool stuff in Thermo is implemented - and how some of the
benefits can be used now without Thermo.

Thanks for all the replies and ideas folks...

In the end (replying to my own post here..) I got a dual core
Pentium (E2180).

Yup, that's not as fast as the Intel Core 2 Duo's (not nearly),
but it's fast enough for me. With the stock heatsink that comes
with it it's quite quiet actually, and running FreeBSD for the
last two days with the fan set to autospeed it's not gone above
30degC yet and idles at about 24 degrees.

The motherboard I bought initially was the cheapest I could find
at Novatech, but when I got it home I found out that it had already
been used by someone else (heatsink paste on it and 6 bent pins on
the LGA 775 socket - I've no idea how they managed to sell me a 2nd
hand board or how someone could bend those pins...)

I popped into PC world and bought a Gigayte GA-73VM-S2 Board for
49.99. It has no fans on and seems fine, the onboard graphics works
okay.

I do have an M-Audio sound card of sorts lying about somewhere but
I've not got around to installing it. The drive I've got is fine
(twas a spare from a rubberductions build) but I will look for a
quiet >500GB drive as well.

Ideally I would probably put the drive on the end of a fire controller
in some other room and the graphics rather than onboard would be a HDMI
card with a 20m HDMI cable. i.e. the CPU/fan/PSU arrangement would be
in a different room.

As for sound, again, in an ideal world I'd get one with optical digital
output and get a quality audio ADC to sit on the desk with the screen.

With the disks or the CPU remote and everything else done with longer
cables (and digital) all my problems would be solved, but for now the
cheap and easy options seem to be working quite well. Overall I've
spent less than ??150 and have most of the things I want.

Linux X2 (it's a game) runs fine at 1024x768 with the onboard graphics
and the sound quality for a basic motherboard PC seems fine. (All Audio
processing will be done on CPU anyway, no custom DSP is required here
and I don't have one anyway...)

Again, thanks for all your help and suggestions...

	Steve

The new Radiohead video, "filmed" with frickin' lasers.

Nice thing is, the raw data is available on Google Code. I wish I had
the time to do something with it.
