Yeah, of course you're right, Xave - there is no one true path. What  
interests me about these efforts (and in a sense, Actionscript is  
part of the same process because, like Javascript, it is an  
implementation of ECMAScript, just with access to the libraries that  
Flash provides) is the ephemeralisation that's taking place. I've not  
used peek and poke for 25 years, I see no reason why I should be  
using JS or AS and their fugly syntaxes in 10 years time either. I  
sincerely hope someone can write a meta-language for this kind of  
development that's both beautiful and functional. And that consists  
of more than whitespace ;)
