Hiya Not one to usually RTFM, on this occasion I did. It says WD Access Anwhere (MioNet) HAS to be installed for the MyBook to work. I did try browsing the network after plugging in and switching on but no, it didn't magically appear in My Network Places. Cant see anything in the manual about SMB or the likes either. Back to PC World it goes.... Mionet is basically a way to access your hard drive from anywhere on the internet without you opening up holes in your home firewall. It's not needed for same-network communications. Also, IIRC, mionet blocks any media content to make sure you can't use it to share your MP3 collection with the world. As I understand it, you can get MyBook Worlds to talk normal Windows file sharing (SMB) without too much trouble, although I've never used one so I couldn't tell you the exact procedure. Have you switched it on, plugged it in, then tried browsing the network ("My Network Places"?) on your PC? It might magically appear there. If not, look in the manual for "SMB" or "Windows file sharing". Oliver. -- underscore_ list info/archive -> http://www.under-score.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/underscore
