Hi All, I bought a terabyte Western Digital MyBook World yesterday from PC World, because it supposedly would sit on the network and we could do scheduled auto backups to it from any machine. Ha! So far I have spent/wasted a day on it. It wasnt off to a great start when I found that the sealed box had been shipped with no driver cd, despite the box saying it was inside. Eventually after jumping through several WD hoops, I managed to get access to the drivers for it from their website. I ran the drivers only to find I have to use some online system for it to work at all cos the drivers are tied in to MioNet? According to the manual its just (!) plug in, install and then work. Grrrr Well I installed the software, it registered itself on my router config but yet didnt appear as a drive, I cant write to it, see it or use it, plus its making odd scratchy noises like there is a small mouse trapped inside! Now my system with MioNause, sorry MioNet, installed is limping along and hanging intermittently, and rebooting takes about 10 minutes!! On loading it complains that the MioNet driver is not installed but then MioNet appears and says all is fine. Ughhhh I give up. In short - what a £200 load of cr at p!! Has anyone ever got one of these working? Are they worth the money? I made the mistake of buying without researching first and have since googled to find that loads of people have had probs with this model too. Turns out that even when they do eventually back up at the pace of an geriatric slug, WD drives are often not that reliable anyway? Deep joy! Sam "I'll buy it!"
