But even a moderate daily rate isn't it more cost effective to just
spend extra on the computer and do some work in the meantime and have
it all delivered entire with a warranty and less worries.
Maybe the purchased complete PC will go slower but lets assume it
takes a couple of days to spec and build a machine that's going to
cost £500, had you made some income in those two days you could
probably have spent a lot more on the computer than the one you spend
days building.
I know this is true for me anyway, but I too enjoy having got some
vague feeling of better value by having spent my time far less
productively optimizing system components.

P.S. What I mean is that I'm using a shop built computer, granted it's
a laptop and I need to justify why it was "better" to buy this than
build something. hmmm.
