I've just dropped £1749 on a new Mac Pro. The G5 dual I'm typing this on
has done me 2.5 years, cost me £1300 in the refub store, and I already have
a buyer for it for £750. The G4 dual before that held value in a similar
way, and did me over 2 years (and I sold it to the same chap :). This
machine should do me for 3-4 years.

The total cost of ownership for a Mac, for me, is far less than a Windows
machine. More cost up front, yes - but no OS rebuilds, no reboots, minimal
depreciation; that's all worth a lot to me. And the last non-Apple box I
bought cost about the same (although granted it was a fsck off web server
... )
