[_] a new marketing URL

background: a client has an established website, let's call it
http://www.company.com

recently they've put up a subsite for a marketing campaign:
http://www.company.com/special

they've send out a mailshot with this 'special' URL printed on it.

now they're saying that if you type this special URL into google (rather
than the browser URL bar) it doesn't show up in google's search results. now
this is because google hasn't indexed this subsite URL (unsurprising;
nothing links to it!).

typing full URLs into google seems to be a common scenario (particularly in
older age groups!)
so... what's the best plan of action to get google to quickly index this
subsite? and importantly to try and get the #1 google result link to go to
the special URL page itself (rather than the referring page/site)?

thanks,
chris
