I've not looked at 1.0 yet but I have installed it a couple of times
during its dev and other than some quite obvious bugs at the time my
knee-jerk summary would be that it's a fully featured and extremely
well thought out ecom platform (and by the way it includes general CMS
capabilities too).

Being based on the ZF is very much A Good Thing and even though I'd
choose Symfony by default as the basis for a project, based on what
I've already seen I wouldn't hesitate to choose Magento for an
ecommerce job.
