Hi Rick > I have come to the end of my tether with my windows VPS on > pipex/webfusion - can anyone recommend a reliable host for a windows > VPS? I know that feeling well - I had enough of them over a Linux VPS so discounted setting up a Windows one. I've just started a Windows VPS over with http://eukhost.com a couple of weeks ago & I'm happy with it and them so far. Looking on their support forum it seems that they've been through the initial problems of implementation (things like the ratio of virtual servers to physical boxes), etc. They also seem to be relatively transparent about problems which gives me some confidence. What's not in their sales blurb (or I couldn't find it when researching) is that they have daily backups of your server that you can get them to restore (they keep the previous day & previous Sunday only). That's in addition to the option that you have in Virtuozzo to manually backup the system. They also have back up host packages that are stored in a completely separate data centre, although you could go down the Amazon S3 route instead. (On which note, has anyone come across a Windows service for backing up to S3? I've only seen desktop solutions around, or that's what I've assumed they are) They'll also apply the Windows security patches centrally rather than each VPS having to do it - but that might be true of other VPS providers as well. My top tip for any VPS though is to use a disposable domain name as the primary one for the server - that was another area of grief I had when I had given up on WebFusion & wanted to move the site away. The primary domain gets tangled up in the Plesk configuration so you can't simply point the www record somewhere else, even though the admin interface looks like you can. So as I say, so far so good with eukhost, but it looks like it's a new development from Virtuozzo anyway so no-one has had that much experience/track record.
