Had similar experience with activeCollab - something's not quite right with it but I've found it tricky to put my finger on what it is exactly. I'd still really like a solution that I can host myself as I'd like to be able to do more stuff with the data. I know some have API's but it's not the same. Also, I'm really keen for a feature that allows discussion about each to-do item, or allows association between discussions/messages and to-do list items (Basecamp didn't do that when I last checked). I know a customised forum or bug tracker essentially does it, but haven't found a Project Management solution or standalone to-do list manager that allows for it. Perhaps I'll have to build it myself! Moving slightly off-topic, an add-on for Vanilla forum can turn it into an issue tracker/project based task list - and since it's based on a forum, collaboration is integral: http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=292 Oh, and thanks for that link Jon - interesting concept!
