I just completed the replacement. That was probably the most
intricate and tedious thing I've ever done, hardware-wise. On the
scale of watchmaking, but with all the parts made of thin glass rather
than sturdy metal. It was incredibly difficult to take the screen
apart without breaking anything, and supposedly the Chi Mei screens
(like mine) are the easiest to do.

Funny thing is, the colour temperature on my screen is now really
weird. If the screen is tilted towards me, there's a blue cast.
Tilted away, there's a rich red cast. No chance of getting ColorSync
to work right. Anyway, the screen's much brighter and more even now.

My recommendation is not to bother. Buy a new screen instead.
