I've been looking for a decent php captcha script. The pear one is quite crappy. In related matters - I have a similar dilemma. CleVR currently uses email validation, but a significant minority of users seem to not receive the email or at least never actually click the validation link. I also wonder how many are put off by the need to enter one, despite our assurances that we won't send them any emails unless they request them. However, we do need the email if we're going to send them notifications of stuff like comments on their panoramas, so we don't want them putting in fake emails. What are people's thoughts on this? We obviously want to maximise the number of signups (though our conversion rate is already ~20%). Should we drop the confirmation email? Should we switch to captchas or nothing at all?
