We use ProtX here, AFAIK we've had no problems interfacing to our
ASP.NET system, though I think we do scoot the user off to ProtX.
Personally speaking I wouldn't go anywhere near trying to implement a
server side payment system, there are plenty of professionals out
there that spend a lot more time dealing with security and have much
bigger insurance in case something goes pear shaped than we would want
to deal with.

I think most of the big players now let you brand a page and add
navigation and all sorts of other gubbins so that the payment gateway
matches that of the client site.
