There use to be a place on West Street, Bedminster (near the 3 lions pub) and the 007 Resturant that fixed Hi-Fi's, I took mine in a few years back and they sorted it out for £20. It was only that the tape drives had stopped working, but I thought it wasn't a bad price to pay afterall I only use theat Hi-Fi for connecting to my PC for serious sound when playing games.
