Is it, though? I think it's more like an "anti a closed format
provided by a monopolist" agenda, which (if you're at all interested
in the future of democracy and any independence from the influence of
big business) would seem to be A Good Thing.

The format just happens to be Windows Media, and the monopolist
Microsoft. I'm certain that, had Apple or any other company been in
that position (and they also only made their software available on one
platform) then the EU would have acted similarly against them.
