Agreed, but it would've been nice if they'd adapted that logo (eg.  
just use the Thames squiggle with fewer stripes) instead.

I'm fairly cynical, and when the bid branding was released, I was  
quite surprised that I quite liked it.  It was creative and clever,  
respectful to London's de-facto branding heritage (such as the tube  
map, LOND[ON], and so forth), and finally, it actually looked nice!

I do feel a strong sense of pride as the Great British Public comes  
together and stands in unison AGAINST this new logo.

I just don't understand why this wasn't a public competition.  I  
can't see it costing much more to run, and it would've been great  
publicity.  They certainly couldn't have ended up with a worse choice.
