It's nothing more than a general perception, voiced by a few key tech
journalists. Also, several of the main content providers who original
nailed their colours to Sony's mast have suddenly revealed HD-DVD products.
LG revealed a dual format player during CES this year, which came as
something of a shock to a few pundits as far as I can tell.

Also, Sony's quality [read: "hysterically shite"] next-gen marketing
campaign continues to focus on giving the consumer the best deal:

"SCEA: PS3 price won't drop for two years"

F-ing genius, giving Microsoft plenty of time to take the wraps off their
revised Xbox 360 with built in HD-DVD drive, proper HDMI port and bundled
120GB drive as standard. And that'll probably be under £400 (as an absolute
maximum) in two years' time.
