Bit like the 360 at launch too :) It's expensive, yes - and the launch line-up is terrible. But give them a year and we'll see. The sheer *variety* of games available for my PS2 eclipses anything the 360 or Wii will ever have, so if Sony can assure backware compat + some truly great games, then yeah I would be tempted.
