can anyone recommend a reliable and low cost email forwarding service?

i have a number of clients/friends/domains with 123-reg.co.uk who are
currently experiencing major email problems at the moment.

123-reg support is not filling me with confidence, and i need to look at
switching the email forwarding to other providers.

who to use? some of these are hobby/private accounts making use of the 123
'free' email forwarding with domain registration, so costs need to be
minimal. a couple of people are using 123-reg mailboxes for email. again,
these are performing very badly and may need switching.

i can change MX records via 123s control panel, but i'd rather not have to
go through complete domain transferrals if i don't need to.

any suggestions?
