If it's a whole application (not a funky dialogue that Pete's having
issues with) then alt-space and 'move' should definitely work. Once
selected, use the arrow keys to move the window around (it should be
from where you left it), and return to finish moving it. (Anything
else will plonk it back where it was.)

On windows I use a little utility called Ultramon, which makes dealing
with mulitple screens much easier.
