Vaguely related, anyone else have their council tax taken by D/D at  
the start of the month?  I just checked my bank account statement  
online to check for fraudulent entries, and found that Bristol City  
Council withdrew £540.55 from my account this morning!  Normal amount  
is about £120, and has been taken fine the past few months.

And no-one is answering their phones there.... not even on the  
payment line :(
