I recently worked for a company who used rackspace managed hosting ,
RS was pretty responsive but to get that level of response at a 
decent amount of money involved lots of heavy negotiation and many
transatlantic phone calls. This may be different for the uk arm.

Also its worth pointing out that anything remotely controversial
hosted on rackspace may get nabbed by the FBI even with out any
reasonable juristiction or recompense.

For this reason alone it may be worth dealing with a wholy uk-owned
hosting company.
