Great idea, now wait for the gov to mix it up with some other stuff!

"The internet, especially, can be a dangerous place, with viruses and
other malware, phishing scams, stalkers and criminals."

Hmmm, you need your National ID card to register for training courses,
as these criminals need to be identified.

Oh yeah, All computers to operate in a locked down mode, enough to allow
you to log in with your PC driving licence (foriegn key your National ID
no) before you can actually do anything useful.

Function creep can be scary, be careful what you wish for.

Now I imagine how much fun the underscore list will have undertaking
this training. How long would a course be? How much will it cost?(£200)
Forget MS or Linux or Mac the test will be run on a simulated system
like the schools are now using for the QCA KS3 ICT tests
(http://www.reviseict.co.uk/ks3test/index.shtml).

The basic idea "the safe and sensible use of computers and the
internet." is great then may be <rant> I won't be the only "wacky one"
that complains about non ssl web sites which request personal info ie

http://www.bath.ac.uk/jobs/job_app_ct.cgi?reference=07/056

I wrote to these clowns 6 months ago, how can they ask for this info,
especially over an unsecure connection. This could make a good target
for a phishing scam, maybe it is.

Now how about a petition that them that make decsions regarding IT go
and get some of that basic training? Because the above is too common.
