All the more reason to oppose ID cards. They might be used now, by
this government, for fairly mundane stuff, but once something's in law
it's very hard to remove when some future government has more
nefarious plans. Hell, from what's been said here, it's just as likely
to be *this* government that has the nefarious plans. It's a fine
line, and a somewhat slippery slope.
