Don't know why I didn't think to suggest this but yeah Rick is right the Visual Web Developer comes with a very similar built in web server as VS 2005 and no doubt 2008 as well. It's created as and when needed so no need to configure IIS. As for the rest of VWD im not sure as to how far you can take it before they start to block features. In my experience they often go far enough to get you hooked and then you realise only the full copy will do what you want. This usually comes at the release point of development. -----Original Message----- From: Rick Hurst [mailto:rick.hurst at gmail.com] Sent: 11 December 2007 16:46 To: underscore at under-score.org.uk Subject: Re: [_] ASP .net1.1 On Dec 11, 2007 3:46 PM, Daniel Course <dancourse at gmail.com> wrote: > I've not got an 'ASP.net' tab so I wonder if ASP is even turned on? be very careful not to confuse ASP and ASP.net when googling for your solution! I installed the free " visual web developer 2005 express edition" and it seems to come with a dev server built in - at least when you preview a file it pops up in a browser with the URL http://localhost:1109, and a little bubble appears in the system tray claiming to be "ASP.NET Development Server".
