be very careful not to confuse ASP and ASP.net when googling for your solution!

I installed the free " visual web developer 2005 express edition" and
it seems to come with a dev server built in - at least when you
preview a file it pops up in a browser with the URL
http://localhost:1109, and a little bubble appears in the system tray
claiming to be "ASP.NET Development Server". Might be worth a try?
