I wondered whether the Last.fm scrobbler application could also do
distributed stats processing as well as just submitting tracks played
to the server.

Still, now that we have things like Amazon ec2, aren't gridcomp
screensavers more of a marketing gimmick than a real way of spreading
the computing load?
