Hi, 

Does you browser say 500kbps? It probably doesn't. It's probably reporting
Kilobytes per second or "500kB/s" which is:

500 * 1024 = 512000 bytes/s * 8 = 4096000 bps / 1000 = 40960 kbps / 1000 =
40.96 Mbps which is about right for a wireless G router.
