Yeah, like they encourage me to attend TechEd and other worthwhile conferences.
I've yet to work for a company outside of science that positively
encourages its staff to go learn stuff that is outside their everyday
sphere (or at least has  management that actively buys into the idea).
Time and money are the usual excuses.

The fact that I can't make it and I only work up the road demonstrates
how limiting the timing is IMO. If I worked in Bath, or Chippenham or
somewhere there'd be no way I could make it in time even if I left at
5.30.

Just my gripe, whinged at Ed but what the hey, not working flexi time
can suck but then I have a four minute commute to work. There's always
the archive :)

More p*ssed at missing the HP lectures to be honest.
