Tim, We leave it to the client. If they have internet banking it takes a few seconds to set up. Just make sure they have the correct amount, frequency, account name, bank address, sortcode and bank acc number to pay. If you don't trust them, you could insist that they prepare the written instruction to their bank and forward it to you (for checking and posting on) before providing the service. Of course your client could still cancel the SO, but if laziness is the main obstacle, they won't get around to it. A similar hassle will need to be repeated whenever you put in a price increase, but at least the bulk of the cash is flowing in the meantime. None of the banks seemed interested in giving us a Direct Debit facility so we give the choice of annually in advance or monthly by standing order. It is very quick and easy to set up an SO. We thought about using our Worldpay facility, with cart identities generated by the callback facility, but the charges would be high (and perhaps your customers would have to use a credit card?). I would go for standing orders every time.
