Web Systems Developer

Location:

The role is based entirely at the offices of Fleet Support Group
Limited, Methuen Park, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 0GX.

Overview:

Working as part of the IT Development Team and with the existing Web
Systems Developer, the successful candidate will be developing web
based software for the companies' extranet and intranet projects. The
role involves understanding internal and external customer
requirements, developing web based solutions to those problems, and
maintaining existing website code. Candidates should be able to
provide samples of websites where they have played a part in the
development process.

Experience:

The role is ideally suited to a recent college graduate with a
foundation degree in computing or related discipline or to someone
with equivalent work experience.

Experience with these products and technologies is required:

HTML4.01
A web programming language (PHP 4 preferable)
A relational database system (MySQL or similar)

Experience with these products and technologies is desirable:

Web hosting in an Apache/Linux environment
Web standards and accessible design
Free BSD, Linux or similar
Paint Shop Pro or similar photo manipulation software
Macromedia Fireworks or similar web graphics software
Macromedia Flash
Microsoft Visual Source Safe

Primary Responsibilities:

Work with all teams and departments within the company to manage,
maintain and develop Fleet Support Group's internal and external web
systems.

Provide technical assistance on our internal and external web systems
to internal users and customers.

Personal Attributes:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in and
knowledge of computer technologies that extends beyond the day-to-day
requirements of the role. They will be able to work independently and
as part of the existing development team. They will be a good
communicator able to work well with less experienced computer users
and customers.
