* If you're starting a completely new thread, compose a new message to
the list address.
* If you're replying on-topic to an existing thread, reply to the
thread, leaving the subject unchanged
* If you're replying to an existing thread, but the subject is veering
off on a tangent, reply to the message, but change the subject line to
"[_] New subject (was: old subject)"
There: three easily-remembered rules for a happy and long underscore life :)
