I've always favoured a hand drawn path using the Pen tool, never got
on with magic wand etc. It feels like it's going to be quicker to
bodge it with the eraser or a mask, but in the end it's so inprecise
that I always end up doing it by hand. I also prefer the aliased edge
you get, it's much more defined than you can get using a transparency
mask (at least that's what I've found).
