It's from competitions run by newspapers back in the day, where
readers would have to approach the paper's agent and say something
like "You are Lobby Lud and I claim my £5". It's similar to the thing
run by local radio stations where they have to say a certain phrase
when called by the DJ in orer to win some prize.
