If you haven't done so already it's worth checking out apples support
forum as users are pretty good at flagging up faulty kit. Other than
that macosxhints.com is another good place to visit good for unix and
apple stuff too and people might know if it's a common fault.
But either way I hope you get a cheap solution to you problem, broken kit sucks
