A site which I've been involved in recently pissed off a large swathe
of its membership by requiring login to view a larger-than-before
percentage of its news articles. It was widely seen as a good example
of how *not* to communicate change to your userbase.
On the flip side, I received a mail from Technorati today, explaining
that I would be receiving a weekly newsletter from them starting on
Friday, but was done in nice, friendly language (with a touch of
humour), and it had a clear "no thanks, unsub me" link.
I can fwd the Technorati mail off-list if you want a look.
