Both mine have stereo audio out (the Roberts has optical) and when
amped through the stereo they sound CD quality though I've read that
it may not actually be that much better for lots of dull technical
reasons that frankly don't interest me:

mono thing I guess it's the setting that one might place a radio
(bedside, kitchen window sill etc) and the lack of stereo separation
means it's not worth it?

All I know is that I listen to 5 Live a lot and DAB definitely beats
listening to it  on MW.
