The Roberts RD6, it oozes quality. Trouble is that if you buy your Mum
one, you'll want one too. It has bass reflex port at back and even
though mono sounds really, *really* good.  I paid over a ton more than
that 2 years ago but it was worth every penny:

If you can splash out that bit more then it's worth it. Build quality
is superb too. I think the newer one has a pause feature which I could
do with most Saturday evenings when the score draws come out and
invariably the children/wife/phone interrupt.

Wind up but also rechargeable which good for taking outside when
gardening etc. Note 1min of winding gives 1hr FM but only 6 mins of
DAB. It's a good radio but I would imagine the sound quality is
similar to the other cheaper ones out there which is to say a bit
flat, OK it's clear, but the RD6 blows it out of the water.
