instead of a dvd deck you could use a mini dv/dvcam
one (i think watershed has one, it's long, thin, beige
& made by sony)
i haven't inspected the back but i'm pretty sure it's
got firewire + analogue ins/outs
so, i reckon use the firewire from the camera for your
pristine dv capture, and the analogue outs for the
stream (into another pc via the dvcam deck)... if the
streams going to end up hyper compressed i think it'll
be fine to use the analogue signal for it.
