[_] Website monitoring software?

Can anyone think of a decent web monitoring software?
I'd like something that checks if a website is responding every 5
minutes or so, and then sends an e-mail to me whenever it's going down
and coming back up.
You'd have thought it'd be easy to code, and that there should be
solutions out there east west and centre, but I haven't seen any
services that do it...
