Hey all,
I'm playing with LCD RGB subpixel resampling (ie. ClearType), and
have come up with the following comparison:
http://homepage.mac.com/tomgidden/Sites/lcdresample/
I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what you think of the non-
Photoshop images in comparison to the Photoshop ones, and in
particular your favourite(s) altogether. It would also help if you
tell me what display hardware and orientation you're using!
As a deeper discussion, since the colour fringing of LCD-resampled
icons is barely perceptible on CRTs (or is it?) do you think it would
be a good idea to LCD-resample small icons on websites? I mean, it's
not like there's *EVER* going to be any form of client- or server-
side variable from the browser describing display technology...
As an even tougher question: any idea what the usage share is like
for LCD/CRT and RGB-ordering -v- BGR-ordering, or even worse,
vertically-aligned pixels eg. tablets?
Many thanks,
Tom
PS. I have absolutely no idea if the test page I put together works
on IE. :)
